Deeply involved in Montana agriculture her entire life, Charlene Rich served as the Executive Director of the Montana Beef Council for 16 years. There she was responsible for coordinating the marketing of all education, promotion and research activities for beef and beef products in Montana. She also represented Montana producers on a national basis, serving many years on the advertising committee. Three times in her career she has conducted education and promotion programs on an international basis, traveling twice to Japan and once to Mexico.
Charlene was raised on their family’s ranch at Sand Springs and currently runs lease cattle during the summer months. Prior to working for the Beef Council she spent a number of years as an educator, 9 of those years with the MSU Extension Service.
Charlene is married to Larry Switzer of Richey and has two grown sons and three grandchildren.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois, a Master’s of Science degree from Montana State University and completed post-graduate work in marketing for organizations at Cornell University in New York.
