The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking turkey hunters
to take a few minutes and participate in the harvest survey now
underway for the 2011 fall turkey season.
Nearly 2,000 survey letters are being mailed to both resident and
nonresident hunters who held both general and limited quota fall
turkey licenses. The surveys can be completed online or by filling out
the form and mailing it in.
Hunter Survey Coordinator Gail Sheridan said the online method is more
efficient. “Each survey letter has instructions for applying online
and a hunter key that must be entered to complete the survey,” she
said. “By applying online, it saves the Game and Fish money in postage
and processing and speeds up the procedure to compile survey results.
But, regardless of the method used, it is important that the survey is
completed.”
Everyone who held a fall turkey license will receive a survey. The
Game and Fish emphasizes it is still very important for all surveys to
be completed even if the hunter was unsuccessful or did not go
hunting. Biologists use information from the survey to monitor
populations and recommend hunting seasons. Hunters who held multiple
turkey licenses are asked to provide information for each license on
their survey.
