The draft Platte Valley Mule Deer Herd Initiative is now available for review on the Wyoming Game and Fish Department website.
The draft is the result of two series of workshops conducted in 2011
on future management of the Platte Valley mule deer herd. Hunters,
landowners, outfitters and anyone else interested in this herd are
encouraged to participate in the third workshop to discuss the plan.
Workshops will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the following locations:
Feb. 21 Saratoga Platte Valley Community Center, 210 W. Elm St.
Feb. 22 Rawlins Jeffrey Memorial Community Center, 315 E. Pine St.
Feb. 23 Laramie UW Business Bldg. Room 21; 15th and Ivinson.
Feb. 24 Cheyenne WGFD Headquarters, Elk Room, 5400 Bishop Blvd.
The Platte Valley mule deer herd is one of the focus herds under the Wyoming Mule Deer Initiative. This herd has been selected for a
collaborative public process special attention as part of the Game and
Fish effort to address declining mule deer numbers throughout the
state. Over the past years, the Platte Valley deer herd has been a
source of concern for wildlife managers and the public alike.
