The debates — co-sponsored by MSU Billings and The Billings Gazette — feature candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, Oct. 2; candidates for the U.S. Senate on Monday, Oct. 8; and candidates for Montana governor on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

 

Each hourlong debate will be held at Petro Theatre at the MSU Billings university campus just off of Rimrock Road and Poly Drive. They are free, open anyone and each will be broadcast on KEMC/Yellowstone Public Radio and streamed on the Gazette’s website.

 

The U.S. House debate on Oct. 2 begins at 6 p.m. It will feature Billings Democrat Kim Gillan against Bozeman Republican Steve Daines, who are both vying for Montana’s lone congressional seat that is currently held by being Denny Rehberg. Rehberg is vacating his seat to run for the U.S. Senate.

 

The Senate debate on Oct. 8 begins at 7 p.m. and will feature Republican challenger Rehberg and incumbent Democrat Sen. Jon Tester. That debate will also be televised live by Montana PBS.

 

The last debate by statewide candidates will be the gubernatorial debate on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. That event features Democrat Attorney General Steve Bullock and Republican former U.S. Rep. Rick Hill.

 

All debates will be moderated by Steve Prosinski, editor of The Billings Gazette, with questions from a panel of political reporters. Representatives from the Associated Students of Montana State University Billings, the student government, will serve as timekeepers.
