U.S. District Court Judge Dana Christensen presided over the ceremony, after signing the orders declaring citizenship, had his clerk deliver the Oath of Allegiance. Representative from Montana’s U.S. senators, Jon Tester and Steve Daines, as well as its sole U.S. Congressman Greg Gianforte, read letters from the elected officials to the new citizens.
Yellowstone County commissioners dropped the idea of consolidating the auditor’s office with another county department after a discussion meeting Thursday. The informal decision reached by commissioners came after they and other county officials and staff heard about how consolidated and non-consolidated offices work in two other Montana counties.
A judge has voided an attempt by 11 people to claim an interest in the St. Francis Upper building in downtown Billings. That clears the road for Billings Catholic Schools to assume full ownership of the property’s deed, which was granted in 1916.
