Will State’s Voters Get Fired Up Over Tobacco Use?

Efforts are underway to put a proposal on the Nov. 6 ballot that would add $2 to the price of cigarettes to extend the state’s Medicaid expansion program. Ballot Issue No. 9, also known as the Healthy Montana initiative, was filed Feb. 22 by several health care organizations with the Montana Secretary of State’s office and is now under review by the attorney general.
