2017 High School Football Road Trips!

As we get close to the start of this new high school football season let me share with you which class “A” and “AA” programs will travel the farthest during this new season.

Keep in mind that in class “A” football for 2017 we only have two conferences and 22 teams!  Twelve programs will play in the West and 10 will battle in the East!  Three teams in the East will travel more than 1,200 miles one way during the regular season.  So all I have to say is welcome to the Belgrade Panthers as they enter the Eastern Conference.  The Panthers have five road trips scheduled this fall with their closest game being 154 miles to play at Billings Central.  Their longest road trip 422 miles to Sidney.  Overall Belgrade will travel 1,243 miles!  Second in class “A” the Sidney Eagles…1,326 miles, farthest road trip 386 to Livingston.  The road kings in class “A” this fall…the Havre Blue Ponies, 5 trips for a total of 1,482 miles. Their 2017 schedule will take them to Hardin, Belgrade, Glendive, Billings and Miles City!

Now lets take a look at “AA” football travel for this fall.  Only one program will travel more than a 1,000 and that is the defending state champs Billings Senior at 1,182 miles.  The Broncs farthest road trip will be in-game number one to Kalispell to take on Glacier that will be 465 miles one way.  Then there’s the Bruins of Helena Capital, they will travel not once, not twice but three trips to Billings this fall.

Now remember the huge road trips during the class “C” playoffs a year ago?  Victor went 626 miles to play at Wibaux.  While Fairview may have set the state distance record a year ago with their 680 mile one way trip to play at Charlo.
