Century-Old Glass Blocks Chiseled From Sidewalk Outside Historic Livingston Business And Taken

As many as 50 purple blocks of glass embedded into the sidewalk in front of Livingston’s oldest continuously running business have been “chiseled out” and taken, according to the town’s Public Works Department. The glass blocks were installed into the sidewalk in three separate grids in front of Sax and Fryer bookstore, located at 109 W. Callender St., sometime around 1907 to provide natural lighting for the vaulted storage that used to sit  below, said Paul Shea, director of the Yellowstone Gateway Museum.
