Going Back To The Old West

If you are anything like me (and as old as me too) you might have enjoyed the western TV classics like Bonanza, The High Chaparral and of course, Gunsmoke! Those greats and others like them are what got me excited about western books, poetry and songs.

That is why I was so excited to learn that The Western Writers of America were holding their 65th anniversary convention in Billings, Montana this year. The WWA holds their convention in a different location in the west every year and that gave me the perfect opportunity to interview three of the WWA’s biggest stars.

Bill Markley and Monty McCord, two award winning authors that write about lawmen and outlaws and have helped out on major Motion Pictures includingDances with Wolves with Kevin Costner. Mikki Furman joined us as well. She not only writes of the old Western Lifestyle but is a recording artist who writes her own songs and performs in her home of Nashville and across the US.

All three have been members of the Western Writers of America for a number of years and love to speak on the WWA and their role in keeping the art of western stories and culture alive.

Join me as I speak with these three authors on our Voices of Montana podcast right here.
